We are currently hiring an experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator for a growing steel fabrication shop in Watkinsville, GA . This is a long-term opportunity for someone who can read fabrication drawings and blueprints, lay out material, fit and fabricate structural steel, and perform FCAW (Flux Core) welding.

Position Overview

The Fabricator will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and assembling metal products according to specifications. We are looking for someone who understands how components come together and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and structural blueprints.
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate structural steel according to specifications.
• Perform FCAW (Flux Core) welding on structural steel components.
• Fabricate I-beams, columns, base plates, braces, and miscellaneous steel.
• Measure, cut, fit, and assemble steel using shop equipment.
• Operate overhead cranes safely to move material throughout the shop.
• Use cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
• Verify dimensions using a tape measure and ensure products meet quality standards.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of FCAW (Flux Core) welding experience required.
• Must be able to pass an FCAW welding certification test.
• Experience reading and fabricating directly from shop drawings and blueprints.
• Experience in a structural steel fabrication shop required.
• Ability to fabricate with minimal supervision.
• Experience with overhead cranes and cutting torches.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Looking for someone with good character who wants a long-term career and continued training.
